By accident!
This is one of my favorite testimonies of the Lord’s will I love to share!
I met Elise on a mission trip to Central Asia in 2023, we became fast friends (easy to do when you share a queen bed for a week)! We kept up texting each other stateside after our trip. I mentioned that the Lord had called me to be a missionary, and she mentioned going full-time as well with adventures in missions. I did a quick Google search of AIM; the first thing that popped up on my browser was Adventures In Missions, 6000 Wellspring Trail, Gainesville GA. Excited to see that the AIM base was only an hour and a half from where I live, I told her that if she ever comes out to Georgia to let me know! That text got a little lost in the conversation (to say the least).
I had already been applying around to different missions organizations at the time, so I thought since Elise told me great things about Adventures I would apply there as well. I began filling out interest forms, doing phone interviews, and before I knew it, I was gearing up to go on a three month vision-trip to Guatemala!
A few months later Elise and I had FaceTime catch-up call. I excitedly told her about going on a vision trip to the AIM base in Guate, but she replied;
“We don’t have a base in Guatemala!”
After a bit of confusion we realized I had applied to the “wrong” Adventures in Missions! Turns she was talking about a completely different Adventures In Missions in Lubbock, Texas (near her hometown) NOT Adventures In Missions in Gainesville, Georgia (near me).
We both had a good laugh about it in the end and wished each other good luck with our Adventures In Missions. She is currently serving with the “other” AIM in New Zealand! The providence of the Lord is truly unmatched! Love you, Elise, this has been one of the greatest “accidents” of my life!
